Time-travel to the 1980s for a celebration of “City Pop!” The original genre emerged in Japan in the 1970s and 80s, a blend of international disco, funk and R&B with a hip, urbane feel and eye-catching aesthetics, but recently has had a “renaissance” due to the discovery by music fans and DJs around the world.
Three popular artists will perform their contemporary spin on the vibrant genre, paired with a Japanese food tasting, at the historic Fonda Theatre originally built in the 1920s, which boasts of past performers including The Rolling Stones, Black Eyed Peas, Katy Perry, Stevie Wonder, and more.
All ages welcome.
Japan Airlines is offering 50,000 mileage to a lucky participant and other special prizes will be given away.
