The words that architects use to describe windows are rich in window wisdom. One Windowology project gathered various window-related texts found in architectural books from various times and places. Examining the texts revealed how many of even the shortest passages address fundamental questions such as ‘What is a window?’ and ‘What are openings in Japanese architecture?’ Presented are a selection of quotations that describe the characteristics of openings in Japanese architecture and window-related quotations by Japanese architects.
